Meet Mr. Chang! (Grade Level Lead)

I am thoroughly excited to be your child's second grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. First, I would love to share a little about myself. I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Georgia in 2014. I have since added an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement and a Gifted Endorsement to my teaching certificate. This will be my twelfth year teaching at New Life Academy of Excellence and my eleventh year teaching second grade. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, exercising/playing football and basketball, watching sports (Go Dawgs, Go Denver Broncos, and Go Braves!), and spending time with my family and friends. It’s going to be an enjoyable year full of learning and new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I am looking forward to becoming close partners with all of you in order to increase your involvement within our classroom, so we can provide your child the best education. I will do my best to make this year a valuable one for your child.

Meet Ms. Daugaard!

Hi there! My name is Ms. Daugaard, and I’m so excited to be your second grade teacher this year! This is my third year teaching, and I absolutely love helping students grow, explore, and discover their unique strengths. I previously taught kindergarten and am thrilled to now be back in second grade! I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2023 and earned my master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia in 2025. I also hold both a Reading Endorsement and a Dyslexia Endorsement to better support all types of learners in my classroom. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Knox, traveling to new places, and trying out fun crafts and activities. I believe in creating a classroom where every student feels safe, supported, and excited to learn. I can’t wait for all the adventures we’ll have together this year! Let’s make it an amazing year full of growth, laughter, and learning!

Meet Ms. Simpson
Hello! My name is Pamela Simpson. I am thrilled to be a part of the 2nd Grade Team this year. I moved to Georgia in 2000 from Kentucky. I completed my undergraduate degree B.A. in English from the University of Louisville. I am the proud mom of three fantastic kids. I completed my Master in Education (Elementary Education) and recently enrolled in a Masters Degree program in Reading Literacy. I look forward to an amazing year that will be full of growth and learning!
