Welcome lifelong learners to Mrs. Hyon's class. Be prepared to read and write! My hope is that your love for math, science, history, reading, and writing will multiply throughout this year. Let's have a great year!

 




Week of May 16th - May 20th 


Language Arts
Students will analyze maps and photographs, events in a historical text to explain what happened and why, interpret information from graphics, and explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support their main idea. 

In writing, students will write an introduction that establishes a narrator, setting and situation. They will enrich their writing by using lines from their poems. Then, write a powerful and interesting conclusion by writing specific actions, dialogue or feelings. On Friday, they will edit their writing using a checklist. 

There will be NO grammar this week.

There are games and videos posted on the Language Arts Google Classroom for them to practice the skill. They can also log on the Dreamscape to play games. Once they are on the website https://go.playdreamscape.com/ they will select Sign In with Google and select their school email. The class code is KG0MQB.

Math
 

Students will find the area and perimeter and complete a math project planning a family vacation using the math concepts and skills learned throughout the year. On Thursday, students will take the End of the Year District Assessment. 

They can also log on the Prodigy to play games. Once they are on the website https://sso.prodigygame.com/login?rid=338a664d-fc88-4e88-8e90-efc983002fc1 they will select Log In with Google and select their school email. The class code is 96ADD71.

Science 
On Monday, students will take the End of the Year District Assessment. Then they will demonstrate their understanding of food chains and webs, create a catapult, hoop glider, and a flying machine.

Social Studies
In social studies, students will review the challenges and contributions of the abolitionists and suffragists, and personal finance. On Wednesday, students will take the End of the Year District Assessment. Then they will create a map and brochure of their own made up country. 

Students can watch review videos and play games on the Social Studies Google Classroom. They can also go on Gallopade for extra practice. The username and passwords are taped in their agendas.
