New Life Academy of Excellence recommends that students leave their personal electronic devices (phone, ear buds, air pods, wireless headphones, smart watches, smart glasses, etc.) at home, as Chromebooks are provided for instructional use.
If a student brings a device to school, it should be turned off and stored in their backpack throughout the school day. Phones should be turned off and out of sight for the entirety of the school day, including arrival at school and carpool. Teachers and administrators may issue behavioral consequences should a student have their device on and visible.
Upon arrival, students are expected to turn their phones off (or on silent) and store it in their bookbag (not on their person). Cell phones will remain in their bookbag for the duration of the day. Students are expected to have WIRED headphones or WIRED earbuds daily to accompany their Chromebook for any necessary instructional purpose, especially in Mandarin Chinese. Bluetooth or wireless headphones/earbuds are no longer allowed.
If a personal device of any kind is lost or stolen, the school is not responsible for restitution nor are we obligated to investigate. If a student needs to contact home for any reason, they may do so from any office within the school.
