K. Little, Central Gwinnett High School

I am... a junior at Central Gwinnett, where I am also a student in the School of the Arts (SOTA) dance conservatory program. I take pride in maintaining a 3.6 GPA while excelling as a dual-enrollment student, achieving a 4.0 GPA in my college courses. My elementary and middle school experiences at New Life Academy of Excellence played a critical role helping me become the motivated student I am today. Those years were spent in a close-knit, supportive environment with personalized attention and a strong focus on academics. I am incredibly grateful for this solid foundation which laid the groundwork for my success in high school.

NLAE encouraged a love for learning and critical thinking. Challenging assignments and inspiring teachers helped me develop strong study habits that I carry with me today. For instance, in third grade, I completed an economics project where I created and designed my own product—lotion bars—to sell to my classmates. Group projects and collaborative activities also taught me the value of teamwork and leadership. One memorable project was the "Jumanji" project from my 8th-grade English class, where we had to rewrite and modernize scenes from the 1995 film to fit the current day. Experiences like these helped me develop communication and cooperation skills, which are essential in both my academic and dance life.

Values like perseverance, discipline, and self-confidence were emphasized throughout my education. I learned that hard work and resilience lead to success—lessons that continue to guide me as I balance academics and dance. The foundation I built in elementary and middle school made my high school transition smoother. The academic skills, work ethic, and creative mindset I developed have helped me succeed in dual-enrollment courses while excelling in my dance conservatory. My perseverance and discipline have been key to maintaining a 3.6 GPA while pursuing my passion for both dance and academics.

I am deeply grateful for the lessons learned at New Life Academy of Excellence. The values of academic excellence, creativity, community, and perseverance continue to guide me as I pursue my future in both academics and the arts.
